Full Professor in the Aero-Thermo-Mechanics department of the Ecole polytechnique de Bruxelles. His research develops clean, efficient and fuel-flexible combustion technologies, reduced-order models of reacting flows and digital twins of industrial systems.

Clean, efficient and flexible combustion, from flame physics to digital twins.
Alessandro Parente is a Full Professor in the Aero-Thermo-Mechanics department of the Ecole polytechnique de Bruxelles, Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he has taught and led research since 2010.

His research develops combustion technologies for the flexible, efficient and clean conversion of energy, from MILD combustion and alternative fuels to reduced-order models and digital twins.
From flame physics to data-driven models of industrial energy systems.
MILD combustion
A highly efficient, low-emission combustion technology, and how it can run on hydrogen and ammonia blends.
Reduced-order models
Empirical low-dimensional manifolds that identify the variables controlling a reacting flow.
Digital twins
Physics-based reduced models, built from simulations and experiments, of industrial combustion systems.
Atmospheric flows
A method for simulating atmospheric boundary layer flows over complex terrain.
